Index Matched ITO Coating Reduces Display Reflection
JDSU index matched ITO coatings for display applications dramatically reduce internal reflections in laminations. Index matched ITO is ideal for projective capacitive displays. This low-ohm coating can also be tuned for very low reflections when used in a standalone configuration in air. The difference in reflection of the ITO coating and bare glass is only 0.75 percent; therefore, a patterned ITO becomes nearly invisible when bonded with a 1.4/1.5 adhesive. Our high-performance ITO coating can also be coated on large formats (32 x 50 in.), in high volumes, and as low as 4 Ω/□.
When laminated with 1.4/1.5 adhesive, JDSU index matched ITO features virtually invisible patterns. The coating combines low-ohm conductivity with high transmission and an index match that can be tuned to either 1 or 1.4 – 1.5. This design eliminates the inherent internal reflection associated with non index matched ITO that is coated directly onto a glass surface.
JDSU index matched ITO is also available with our PrintFree™ and HEA® coatings on the opposite side of the glass. With a PrintFree topcoat, the traditional tradeoff of a high-performance coating (its sensitivity to contamination when a foreign substance adheres to the coating) is eliminated, and the coating is enhanced with a surface that repels fingerprints, water, oil, and many chemicals. The result is a smoother, more durable surface that can be cleaned with a simple wipe of a soft cloth.
An ideal application would be a projective capacitive touch screen with index matched ITO on one side and HEA with PrintFree on the other.
