Course Title: Fiber Optic Technician (ETA-FOT Certification) - Exam

Who Should Attend
This course is designed for people who desire to become an ETA Certified Fiber Optics Technician.

Synopsis
This 1-day course consists of ½ day preparation for the ETA FOT certification and ½ day of test administration. At the completion of this course students will have completed testing required for ETA FOT certification by an approved ETA test administrator. This course begins with an overview of fiber optic technology and safety. Information and hands-on experience that is needed to install, maintain and test fiber optic cable spans is presented. The students follow the hands-on work operations for:

• 3M Mechanical splicing
• Continuity testing using an optical loss set
• Mass and Single fusion splicing
• Introduction to Testing
• Distance and splice loss measurements using the OTDR
• Repair problems in fiber optic system to return the system to specs
