Upgrade Your RSAM


To upgrade your RSAM you will need:

Before upgrading to RSAM firmware Version 3.0.1 please upgrade your Test Productivity Pack software to Version 3.0. or later

If you are using the Test Productivity Pack, please visit the TechComplete™ Test Productivity Pack (TPP) Software Upgrade Website or contact your sales representative or the Technical Assistance Center (TAC) for upgrade information.

1. A firmware file: filename.zip
2. A license file: filename.xml
3. Test Productivity Pack V3.0 or later
4. Optional: RSAM V3.0.1 Release Notes

Please follow these instructions step by step.

  1. Power up your RSAM.
  2. Synchronize each RSAM to be upgraded to the Test Productivity Pack via the Ethernet port to verify proper configuration and communications. For upgrading the firmware, the RSAM must be connected through Ethernet.
  3. Attempt to avoid upgrading more than 10 RSAMs at a time per Test Productivity Pack server.
  4. Determine the firmware version on your RSAM after synchronizing with TPP (preferred and easiest method for multiple RSAMs). The firmware version will be shown in the "manage meter assets" view, under the "FW Version" column.
    In order to upgrade the RSAM firmware from V1.X or later to V3.0.1, you will need to download these 2 files. Save these files by right clicking on them and Select "Save Target as..." or "Save Link as..."

    NOTE: On some web browsers while saving the .xml file you may need to modify the file extension from .xml to .zip (ie: V3_0_1_full.zip)

  5. Ensure that both the upgrade firmware file and the upgrade .xml file are in the same folder (directory) on the Test Productivity Pack server.
  6. Launch the Test Productivity Pack client and go to "manage meter assets" page.
  7. Ensure that the RSAM(s) you are upgrading appear in the Meter Assets list, specified by serial number. If they are not on the list, please add the RSAM(s) and synchronize them before you proceed to the next step.
  8. In the "meter management tasks" sidebar on the left of the manage meter assets page, click on "upgrade meters".
  9. On the upgrade meters page, click "browse" in step one and select the downloaded .xml file from the location you saved it to, in step 4 of this list. Then click "open".
  10. The list of RSAM(s) that can be upgraded should now be displayed on this page. If there is no list, please review the previous steps or contact Technical Assistance Center (TAC) at the number below for further assistance. Ensure that only the RSAM(s) that you wish to upgrade are checked. De-select those RSAMs you do not wish to upgrade.
    NOTE: In the latest version of the Test Productivity Pack software, no RSAMs will be selected for upgrade. Please verify that only the RSAMs you wish to upgrade are checked!
  11. Click the "done" button in the bottom right corner.
  12. Synchronize the RSAM(s) with the Test Productivity Pack server.
  13. After the RSAM has rebooted, verify the upgrade is successful. Check the "manage meter assets" page, sync "Status" column, and ensure the most recent sync is OK, and check the "FW Version" to see that it is V3.0.1
  14. If you have any issues after re-trying to synchronize, please contact TAC.
  15. Congratulations! The latest RSAM firmware has now been installed!
