Tunnelled data/IP applications are emerging continuously as more end-users and corporations use IP VPNs, Mobile IP and other applications to traverse the shared infrastructure of the internet. Until now analyzing tunnelled IP conversations has only been possible using a packet by packet decode. This is laborious and doesn’t show the throughput by user or the bandwidth consumed by specific applications.
Now, with the DA-3200 & DA-3400 High Speed WAN it is possible to “see” L2TP, GRE and GTP tunnelled conversations between clients and the corresponding application. The conversation analysis engine resolves the tunnel ID and correlates it with the corresponding IP flow. This is displayed with end-user IP addresses and applications usage and throughput. Historical usage results are supported along with full reporting for customer auditing.
