Semiconductor Materials Processing

Semiconductor Materials Processing The semiconductor and associated microelectronics industries are continuously improving designs and processes for smaller, faster, more powerful, chips and PCBs which use less power and are cheaper per function. Reliably reducing the feature size or increasing the component density in a large manufacturing scale is the key in achieving these objectives. Lasers are the key optical sources in manufacturing for processing diagnosis and yield enhancement because of their excellent spectrum purity, near diffraction-limited beam quality, and low noise performance. Semiconductor wafer inspection, mask inspection, thin film metrology, and PCB/LCD/PDP panel inspection are a few typical applications.

JDSU has a broad range of product offerings for these applications, including air-cooled argon-ion and helium-neon gas lasers, as well as solid-state CW and passively Q-switched DPSS lasers.
