Filter, Ultraviolet Optical

Filter, Ultraviolet Optical

JDSU ultraviolet (UV) optical filters provide unparalleled UV light transmission—up to 4 times the transmission of traditional UV filters—coupled with outstanding durability. Higher transmission allows for better resolution and faster research. They are also more durable and environmentally stable than existing filters because they are made up of hard dielectric material with a single substrate structure.

These filters are available in custom designs and large formats of up to 200 mm to meet precise requirements. And our patented manufacturing processes ensure cost-effectiveness, uniformity, and exceptional reliability—all of which help to reduce costs while improving product offerings.

JDSU UV filters can be used for many applications in which the harmful portion of the UV light spectrum must be eliminated while transmitting the desired wavelength. For example, genetic cell research can require an instrument that incorporates fluorescence filters in the UV that can filter out harmful UV rays from a light source, while allowing the correct wavelength to affect the cell in order to obtain key information.

Another application is environmental monitoring, which uses UV filters to select specific wavelengths useful in determining whether substances such as water or oil have been contaminated with other materials. Medical/aesthetic laser instruments also employ UV light to heal skin diseases such as psoriasis.
