Advanced Digital Optics, Inc.
August 3, 2004-Advanced Digital Optics, Inc. (ADO) designs and develops light engines used in projection displays. By acquiring ADO, JDSU extends its capabilities in the design and manufacture of microdisplay light engines that deliver leading performance and image quality for the high definition television market. The acquisition follows the successful collaboration between the two companies in developing the UltreX™, and DefiniTV™ light engines for the fast growing, large-screen segment of this market. The UltreX light engine utilizes Liquid-Crystal-on-Silicon (LCoS) microdisplay technology and the DefiniTV light engine utilizes Digital Light Processing (DLP™) microdisplay technology. OptronX Optical Transceiver/Transponder Business
September 18, 2002-OptronX's leading edge products provide access to a new generation of small form factor, low power consumption, microprocessor-based designs. The addition of the OptronX uncooled 10 Gb/s short reach (SR) and very short reach (VSR) transponders extends the JDSU transmission module portfolio, which also includes all other reaches for telecommunications, a XENPAK module for data communications for 10 Gb/s data rate applications, and a broad range of modules for applications at other data rates. IBM Optical Transceiver Business
January 2, 2002-The IBM Optical Transceiver business (formerly the IBM Transport Business Line) provides high-quality, high-performance, leading-edge optical products supporting host-to-host and high-speed interconnects within a system. IBM's optical data communications products include small form factor (SFF) transceivers and Gigabit Interface Converters (GBIC) for storage area networks (SAN) and local area networks (LAN) using optical Fiber Channel and Gigabit Ethernet protocols. This acquisition enables JDSU to design and develop standards-compliant 1 through 10 gigabit data communications transceivers. SIFAM Limited
December 16, 1999-JDSU UK Limited, formerly SIFAM Fibre Optics Limited, was acquired by JDSU in December 1999. Many JDSU UK products are critical components in optical amplifiers, such as the WDM couplers that combine the 980 or 1480 nanometer pump laser signals with the source network signal to enable amplification of the source signal. The Company's gain-flattening filters, also used in optical amplifiers, enable the amplified power level to be independent of wavelength.
