JDSU Adds System Verification Testing Features
to the TestPoint Solution
 JDSU has added a series of new features to TestPoint--its flexible, cost-effective voice and data communications test solution for production and system verification testing (SVT).
The new features allow network equipment manufacturers (NEMs), operators, and service providers to test 8G Fibre Channel transport, which is used to connect storage area networks (SANs) over long distance optical transport networks (OTNs). JDSU is the first and only test equipment vendor to support this application.

The new SVT enhancements to the JDSU TestPoint include:
- Tests transport of 8G Fibre Channel over OTN networks
- Licensed option enables easy field upgradeability of existing units, protecting investments in the TestPoint platform
- Improved installation wizard simplifies the process of
simultaneous installation of software on multiple TestPoint solutions
The new features enhance the ability of TestPoint to deliver exceptional Fibre Channel, Ethernet, and OTN support. TestPoint is a proven solution for 1/2/4/8/10 G Fibre Channel, as well as transport and Ethernet features from 10 Mbps up to 10 Gbps.
The transport protocol coverage for TestPoint includes synchronous optical network technologies/synchronous digital hierarchy (SONET/SDH) up to 39.813 Gbps, and OTN (G.709) up to 43.018 Gbps, including overclocked rates 11.049, 11.095, 11.270, and 11.317 Gbps.
Note: These new enhancements build on the success of the recent JDSU TestPoint version that provides GFP-F with preambles into OTU2 with extended OPU2 mapping support (formerly ITU-T G.Sup43 7.3), tests newly standardized methods for transporting Ethernet over OTN, and provides a licensed field-upgradeable option.
