SpectraFlair Light Diffraction Pigments Help DuPont Hot Hues  “Unleash the Possibilities”

SAN JOSE, CALIFORNIA, December 7, 2005 –JDSU announced today that its collaboration with color scientists from the DuPont Performance Coatings (DPC) team has resulted in the development of  DuPont’s new Hot Hues™ Hot Efx™ Brilliantz™ line of custom finishes. When adapted for DuPont’s exclusive paint formulas, JDSU’s SpectraFlair® light diffraction pigments generate the appearance of multiple, bright, rainbow-producing prisms that appear to move over a liquid silver color. The effect is especially appealing to the after market automotive industry.

With a theme of “Unleash the Possibilities,” DPC unveiled Hot Efx Brilliantz in its Hot Hues product line at the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) trade show in “Hot Rod Alley” at the Las Vegas Convention Center on November 1, 2005. Several custom vehicles featuring Hot Hues custom finishes were exhibited along with panel displays featuring the new Hot Efx Brilliantz product. Show attendees were enthusiastic about the flashy rainbow effect of the Hot Hues colors enhanced by Hot Efx Brilliantz.

SpectraFlair pigments change from a typical metallic appearance in low illumination, to vivid, multi-rainbow effects in direct bright light. SpectraFlair pigment is a neutral color that may be used as the sole colorant or combined with other pigments and dyes to create subtle, sophisticated dimensions for products and spaces. In addition to paints, SpectraFlair pigments can also be used in plastics and textiles, either alone or combined with conventional pigments and dyes, to create dramatic and vivid effects in a growing list of consumer products.
