JDSU T-BERD®/MTS-6000/8000 Adds High Resolution Dispersion Test Solution for Fiber Optic Networks

PMD 8000-6000JDSU today introduced the High Resolution Dispersion Test Solution for the T-BERD®/MTS-6000 and T-BERD®/MTS-8000, providing the most compact and integrated solution dedicated to outside and inside plant testing of fiber optic networks. The solution includes two patented test methods for measuring polarization mode dispersion (PMD) and chromatic dispersion (CD).

The JDSU High Resolution Dispersion Test Solution combines three essential measurement functions during fiber characterization--a series of tests to identify fiber viability for high-speed transmission systems--to ensure that fiber optic networks operate at peak performance for delivery of reliable broadband services. The solution tests PMD, CD, and attenuation profile (AP) test functions.

The High Resolution Dispersion Test Solution highlights include:

  • A single platform for PMD, CD, and AP test functions.

  • Essential testing to identify fiber viability for very high-speed transmission systems in the installation and maintenance phases.

  • Allows technicians to characterize any modern, newly deployed fiber link and ensure compatibility with very high-speed coarse wavelength multiplexing (CWDM) and dense wavelength multiplexing (DWDM) systems.

The integrated solution, which offers the best dispersion performance available, allows technicians to characterize any modern newly deployed fiber link and to ensure compatibility with very high-speed coarse wavelength systems and dense wavelength systems. It supports fiber characterization of high-speed metro networks, networks that typically connect two or more local area networks, and core networks, the backbone of carrier networks.
