San Jose, California, October 19, 2005– Commitment to quality and high performance has earned JDSU recognition as Frost & Sullivan’s 2005 Preferred Test & Measurement Vendor for SONET/SDH. JDSU’s diverse range of SONET/SDH testers includes its field services tester (FST), advanced network tester (ANT), optical network tester (ONT) and MTS-8000/T-BERD 8000 product platforms.
The Frost & Sullivan Award for Preferred Test and Measurement Vendor is presented each year to a company that has a significant market share and global presence in one substantial end-user market segment of a specific industry. Frost & Sullivan expects its award recipient to produce lasting impact and new trends in the industry. Furthermore, the recipient has to be a forerunner in many of the market and product segments it participates in on a worldwide basis. Often, the award recipient will have efficiently allocated resources to improve market share, without affecting other performance factors.
”JDSU's significant position in the R&D, installation and maintenance SONET/SDH test equipment market, coupled with its innovative product offering, global reach and strong established relationships with key service providers and carriers, has led the company to become the number-one vendor of SONET/SDH test equipment to a key end-user group in this space – service providers and carriers,” said Jessy Cavazos, program manager, Frost & Sullivan. “Frost & Sullivan is proud to present JDSU with the 2005 award for Preferred SONET/SDH test vendor for service providers and carriers.”
“JDSU is honored to be recognized by Frost & Sullivan as the Preferred Test & Measurement Vendor for SONET/SDH,” said Helmut Berg, vice president of JDSU CommTest group. “We are also honored to serve as a value-added supplier to carriers and service providers around the globe by providing scaleable products, including SONET/SDH solutions, which enable them to expand their networks.”
About JDSU SONET/SDH Products
JDSU’s diverse range of SONET/SDH testers includes the T-BERD/MTS-8000, a scalable field platform for provisioning and maintaining short-haul, long-haul, FTTx, Metro, CWDM, transport, data and DWDM networks, including the turn-up and maintenance of 10 Gigabit Ethernet (GigE). Advanced modularity enables the T-BERD/MTS-8000 to integrate application modules for SONET, SDH, Ethernet, multi-mode and single mode OTDRs, PMD, spectral attenuation, CD, WDM, and single-port and dual-port OSA.
Also part of the portfolio is the FST-2310 handheld field solution that operates on the TestPad platform, which was launched in January 1999 as the industry's first handheld, battery operated, integrated test set, and is widely used by service providers and equipment manufacturers for provisioning and maintaining voice and data networks. More than 20,000 TestPads are currently deployed around the world.
The JDSU ANT-40G is the newest member of the company’s successful ANT line of testers, which include the ANT-5, ANT-10 and ANT-20. Like its predecessors, the ANT-40G is built on a flexible, Windows-based platform with an easy-to-use graphical user interface (GUI). The ANT-40G is a dedicated OC-768/STM-256 solution with complete SONET/SDH test capability for fully structured, concatenated as well as unframed 40Gb/s signals. The ANT-40G is designed to help manufacturers reduce both technological and economical risk and to help network operators install, maintain and troubleshoot their backbone networks.
Finally, the ONT platform is a multi-functional, multi-port and multi-user solution for fast and flexible testing of optical networks. The ONT is designed to address the optical and digital testing needs in R&D, SVT and maintenance. JDSU offers a choice of ONT platforms covering rack-mountable and portable mainframes, and a range of plug-in instrument modules for DWDM, SDH, SONET, OTN, EoS, and Ethernet networks controlled via an easy-to-use user interface. Designed to keep pace with the high-speed evolution of today’s communications technology, ONT is the essential test tool for manufacturers, installers and operators of optical fiber networks.
