JDSU Adds Combined Multimode and Single-mode OTDR Test Solution for Fiber Optic Networks to the T-BERD®/MTS-4000
JDSU today introduced two optical time domain reflectometer (OTDR) modules for the T-BERD®/MTS-4000. The Multimode (MM)/Single-mode (SM) Quad and Multimode modules are full-featured, single-slot OTDRs with powerful certification tools for the installation, turn-up, and maintenance of Premises/Enterprise networks as well as wireless backhaul infrastructure. JDSU will highlight this solution at the European Conference and Exhibition on Optical Communications (ECOC) in Torino, Italy from September 20 – 22, booth #140.
With all the benefits of the T-BERD/MTS-4000, including a large display, visual fault locator (VFL), and inspection scope, the Quad/MM OTDRs bring these important key features:
- Dual multimode (850/1300 nm) or Quad (850/1300 and 1310/1550 nm) wavelengths
- Dynamic range of 27/25 dB (MM), 37/35 dB (SM)
- Short dead zones: <1 m (event)/4 m (attenuation)
- Provides source (continuous or modulated) and power meter through the OTDR ports (SM and MM), combining OTDR and loss test set functionalities to help reduce the number of tools in the field
- Ideal comprehensive testing tool for Enterprise networks, effectively combines with the JDSU Enterprise Services Application Module (ESAM), copper, and triple-play functions for a better return on investment (ROI)
The user-friendly interface helps technicians with port quality check, automatic settings, loss limits per events and fiber links, automatic event analysis, and results management. The modules also provide technicians with an all-in-one instrument that features advanced test functionality specifically developed in response to emerging industry demands. The modules are effective in addressing Enterprise networks and wireless backhaul, covering all testing needs with one platform and enables SM and MM fiber testing.
