Ottawa, Canada and San Jose, California – September 10, 2002 - JDS Uniphase Corporation (Nasdaq: JDSU and TSX: JDU) today announced six new modules for the versatile Multiple Application Platform. These additions enable cost-effective testing of advanced fiberoptic systems and components. The modules are:
- MAP Tunable Laser Source Cassette, featuring 110 nm of tunable range over C+L-band, > 3 dBm output power, auto-wavelength calibration/verification capability and a 200 Hz to 100 KHz modulation rate. The Tunable Laser offers exceptional speed, accuracy and flexibility at a competitive price.
- MAP EDFA Cassette, featuring excellent optical specifications in areas such as noise figure, gain and output power. The EDFA is targeted for diverse applications such as amplifier emulation, OSNR (optical signal to noise ratio) experiments, and network compliance tests.
- MAP Broadband Source Cassette, offering an amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) output that features flattened high power density across the C-band. The Broadband Source provides high spectral stability, and output power. It is ideal for systems compliance tests, optical component spectral tests and sensor and imaging experiments.
- MAP Utility Cassette, designed to simplify the mechanical integration of passive optical components for test sets. The Utility Cassette is a highly configurable cassette that may be ordered with passive optical devices such as 1X4 splitters, 1X8 splitters and taps.
- MAP Electrical Clock and Data Recovery Cassette, supporting five key 10 Gb/s data rates, and featuring low jitter Clock/4 output ideal for providing trigger signaling for sampling oscilloscopes. The new Clock and Data Recovery Cassette offers a cost effective reference for electrical data streams at 10 Gb/s rates.
- Enhanced MAP Tunable Grating Filter Cassette, featuring narrow bandwidth, low PDL (<0.3 dB) and a wavelength tuning resolution of 0.005 nm. It is available with a peak search option or 1%, 10%, 30% and 50 % tap options. The Filter is ideal for ASE suppression, amplifier characterization and BER testing.</li />
These additions broaden the MAP portfolio to thirteen high performance cassettes, and offer a complete fiberoptic physical layer test platform. JDS Uniphase will be displaying these new products at ECOC (Copenhagen) and NFOEC (Dallas) in September.
