Ottawa, Canada and San Jose, California and Yamanashi, Japan - March 26, 2002 - Fujitsu Quantum Devices, Ltd., Fujitsu Compound Semiconductor, Inc, and JDS Uniphase Corporation (Nasdaq: JDSU and TSE: JDU) today announced a multi-source agreement (MSA) for the development of compact 40 Gb/s PIN receivers with differential coplanar outputs for 40 Gb/s fiberoptic system applications.
This compact, differential coplanar MSA receiver design reduces the space required on 40 Gbp/s circuit packs, cancels common mode noise at the clock and data recovery (CDR) circuit, and doubles the output voltage swing compared to single-ended designs. These MSA receivers are compatible with advanced decision thresholding techniques using differential monitor outputs, threshold control input, peak level detection, and automatic gain control (AGC).
The multi-source agreement specifies the maximum receiver package outline, pin function definitions, and pin locations for singlemode fiber pigtailed, 40 Gb/s PIN receiver modules. The flange mount package is approximately 24 x 38 x 7.4 mm in size. Sample products are expected to be available in June 2002.
