Flex Product’s Chromaflair® Pigment Used In Color-Shifting Exterior Paint And First Ever Color-Shifting Interior Leather For 2004 Ford SVT Mustang Cobra
San Jose, California and Ottawa, Canada –April 22, 2003 – Flex Products, a JDS Uniphase company, announced that its patented ChromaFlair® light interference pigment technology, incorporated into Dupont paint, has been chosen by Ford Motor Company for its special edition 2004 Ford SVT Mustang Cobra “Mystichrome™”. Ford introduced the car as part of the celebration of the 40th anniversary of the Mustang at the New York International Auto Show, April 18-24, 2003. ChromaFlair pigment provides a unique, color-shifting optical effect in the exterior paint and, for the first time in the auto industry, for the interior leather.

ChromaFlair pigments produce unique and vibrant color effects that change with the viewing angle. Since Ford first used this pigment in a color-shifting paint in 1996, other auto manufacturers have adopted it, in different colors, for a range of vehicle models and styles. Now Ford has introduced the same effect for interior leather, broadening the applications of ChromaFlair pigment in the auto industry.
